FAQ
How long does the process take to become handyman?
Expert handyman takes years of hard work. It often starts by helping family members and friends, and then grows into a full-time job.
As you progress, you will learn all the necessary skills.
What are the most popular handyman repairs?
Handymen are often called upon to repair roofs and windows, doors, gutters or siding. They also can install hot water heaters, air conditioning units, electrical systems, sheds, decks, fences, sheds and other items. When it comes to building or home improvement projects that cannot be performed by DIY homeowners, handymen can help with carpentry, plumbing, painting, drywall installation, landscaping, concrete work, fence construction, decking, tiling, and more.
Are handymen insured?
Yes! Yes. Most insurance companies cover liability claims over $1 million for accident property damage or bodily harm. Your insurance company will typically compensate you for damages if there is a problem during the project.
How can I find a reliable handyman?
Before hiring a handyman you should always verify their references. Ask your family and friends if they have ever used them. Also, look online--there are plenty of review sites where handymen post reviews of themselves.
What happens if a handyman causes harm and I'm not satisfied with his work?
It is your responsibility to notify your client immediately if any problems arise during the project. It is a good idea to keep a detailed log and include photographs. You can then contact your insurance company to file an insurance claim.
How often should I call a handyman?
It all depends on what your project is. You might only need one handyman per work week if your job is a simple fix-it, such as changing a light bulb. You might have to call several handymen if the job involves a lot more remodeling.

How To
How do you replace a broken window?
It is one of the most commonly performed home improvements. This involves fixing any damage caused by the glass. This repair will take only 30 minutes. You could end up causing more damage to your house if you don't know the best way to replace a damaged pane. This article offers some useful tips to replace a broken window.
First, take the old glasses out of their frames
First, take out all the screws that are holding the glass in place. The lock located at the top middle of the bottom portion of the window frame must be undone. Next, lift the window upwards so it isn’t attached to sill plates (the metal bars below the floor). The last step is to gently loosen all remaining screws with a tool. Once the panes are removed, clean them thoroughly.
Second step: Clean the new glass
Use a dry towel or paper towel to clean the glass. A spray bottle filled with water, rubbing alcohol and water can be used to clean debris stuck beneath the glass.
The third step is to reinstall the glass
Then, attach the window panes back into the frames. Start by pushing down on the lower edge of the outermost pane with the tip of a screwdriver. Gently push back the pane into place in the opening. Then move to the next pane, pushing it firmly against the previous pane before reattaching it. Continue inserting the panes till the window is complete. Seal the area where the panes meet with silicone caulk gun.
Fourth Step: Repair the affected area
Before installing the new glass, make sure to inspect the area around any cracks. If the break occurred near the corner of the window, install two small pieces of wood along each side of the hole. These wooden blocks will strengthen the window while acting as spacers for the glass during expansion and contraction of the weatherproofing.
Fifth step: Seal the repaired area
After replacing the glass, you can apply silicone caulking along the perimeter edges to the window frame. This will create an excellent seal between the glass & the surrounding wallboard. You can find silicone caulking in hardware stores and online. Choose a color that matches your walls.
Let the caulking dry overnight. Do not disturb the caulking until it has hardened completely. If you don't wait long enough, you could cause the caulking to crack when you remove it.
